ECHA Board of Appeals rules in favour of Industry on SiO2 substance evaluation

The Board of Appeal of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has released two decision annulling a 2015 ECHA decision requiring additional information and data on Syntetic Amorphous Silica (SAS). The original decision was based on substance evaluation performed by The Netherlands Competent Authority where a number of requests were made. 

The contested decision was adopted by ECHA in March 2015 . Two appeals were launched by two industry consortia of composed of 2 and 37 industries respectively.

A joint one-day meeting between RSC Toxicology group and the UK NanoSafety Group.  This meeting is looking to provide information and examples of best practice in the successful and safe commercialisation of nanomaterial based products. Following the success of the February 2017 NIA open webinar on regulatory priorities, NIA is pleased to host a second open webinar on priorities for researchers and industry in the development of nanomaterials.  We are delighted to combine the webinar with a welcome to new NIA Member VITO, who will present their nanotechnology research capability and their own perceptions of priorities for research and innovation.

The webinar is open to all and will discuss how nanomaterial priorities are evolving in 2017 and how organisations can plan and manage long term sustainability.
