The OECD has opened a public consultation on its draft Test Guideline for determining solubility and dissolution rates of nanomaterials in environmental fate assessments. The consultation runs until November 11, 2025.

The draft guideline provides methods to measure apparent solubility over 24 hours and dissolution rates up to 72 hours across pH ranges of 5-8. The protocol consists of Part A (batch test for solubility) and Part B (time-resolved batch test for dissolution rate). The methods aim to generate cost-efficient, reproducible data for risk assessments and regulatory dossiers under REACH and TSCA.
