The NIA as Vice-Chair of the BIAC Nanotechnology Committee at the OECD attended the OECD WPMN24, where the different status of the different working items was reviewed. Items covered activities related to the identification of needs regarding adaptation of Testing Guidelines and Guidance to nanomaterials and advanced materials, regarding both hazard and exposure. The OECD WPMN also runs projects on the Safe Innovation Approach and Advanced Materials, focusing on the development of a strategy to implement Safe and Sustainable by Design as well as tools to anticipate issues regarding safety and sustainability of innovations working with advanced materials. The NIA has been actively involved in several OECD activities in the past 12 months and has voiced industry views on the course of several projects to make sure they cover the needs of its members. Those include the OECD Steering Group on Advanced Materials (SG AdMa), OECD Steering Group of Safe and Sustainable Innovation Approach (SG SSIA), and the OECD Steering Group on Testing and Assessment (SGTA) focusing on the Guidance on Sample Preparation and Dosimetry (GSPD), currently on-going.
