EuroNanoForum 2023 was held recently in Lund under the Swedish Presidency of the European Council. Held every two years, the event brings together European Commission policymakers with the wider nano community from academia and industry. Landon Mertz, NIA Chair and CEO of US company Cerion Nanomaterials, was invited to give a keynote presentation at the event titled “How do we compete going forward? Economic, Defence, and Foreign Policy Implications in the Race for Supremacy of General Purpose Technologies” which was very well received by the audience. It is possible to review Landon’s presentation, as well as catch-up with other sessions from the event at https://euro-nano-forum-2023.coeo.events/.
The event was an opportunity for the NIA to speak directly with some key people from the European Commission, including from the Directorate General Research and Innovation (DG RTD) and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). It was also nice to see in person some NIA members, including University of Leeds, BNN, Amires, INL and Gaiker.
