NIA member Vitrocell are among the co-authors of a publication exploring reproducible automation and standardization protocols for sample preparation.
The paper, released as part of the ACEnano project, presents two examples of sample preparation optimization by automation. While nanomaterial characterization via different analyitical techniques is frequently highly automated and standardized, the preceding step of sample preparation is usually performed manually, and can cause a bottleneck in nanomaterial analysis.
The case studies covered in the paper demonstrate that the standardization and automation of sample preparation set-ups, combined with appropriate measurement processes and data reduction, are crucial steps towards more reliable and reproducible data.
