NIA has written a briefing on the proposal for a European Regulation on Food intended for Infants and Young Children and Food for Special Medical Purposes (2011/0156 (COD). It provides highlights of the current state of play in the legislative process.
This regulation, which has been debated since late 2011, will be going on a second reading at the European Parliament during summer 2013. The text that will result from this procedure might specifically regulate the use of nanomaterials in these foodstuffs.
