This final Opinion focuses on Titanium Dioxide (nano) coated with a combination of w/w 6% Aluminium Hydroxide, 14% Sodium Myristoyl Sarcosinate and 10% Dimethicone, for use as UV filter in dermally applied cosmetic products. Based on the information provided, the SCCS could not developed a conclusion based on similarity assessment to other types of TiO2 previously assessed by SCCS. No similarity could be concluded in terms of physicochemical characteristics, stability of the coating, and the lack of dermal absorption of the nanoparticles. In the absence of more data, the SCCS could not provide an opinion on the safety of its use in cosmetic products.
