The Board of Directors of NIA has formally appointed Chiara Venturini to the post of Director General.

After being NIA Director General for the last 4 years, Dr Claire Skentelbery has moved on to become Director General at EuropaBio. Landon Mertz, Chair of the NIA Board, says “On behalf of all the NIA members, I would like to thank Claire for her hard work during these years. Her leadership has been instrumental in the NIA’s growth as an influential voice in key markets across commercial, technical and regulatory matters, we wish her all the best in her new position.” Claire’s leadership at the NIA has seen membership grow and the introduction of new membership services, such as the regular Nano in Action and Nano in Business webinars.

Following a rigorous recruitment process, the Board can now confirm Chiara Venturini has been appointed as the incoming Director General and will take up the post on 1 February 2021. Chiara is already based in Brussels and joins the NIA after working with industry associations for over a decade, covering policy and regulatory affairs for different sectors. She was previously Director at the Global e-Sustainability Initiative and EU Affairs Manager at TechAmerica Europe, working on environmental and chemicals management topics. Her previous experience also includes managing the secretariat of FuelCellEurope and consulting work on EU-funded projects. Immediately prior to joining the NIA, Chiara was Governance Advisor at amfori, working on trade and supply chain management issues.

Her experience in managing industry organizations along with trade, policy, regulatory and environmental affairs will be invaluable to NIA in shaping the organizations platform and expanding our influence and membership.

I will work with the team to continue to develop the NIA membership offering, and to help ensure the best commercial environment for all parts of the nano industries’ supply chain.”
