The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published the report 'Nanotechnology—Over a Decade of Progress and Innovation'.
The report highlights FDA progression in the field of nanotechnology since it released its last report in 2007, and its role in advancing the public health through regulation of products within its jurisdiction that involve the application of nanotechnology.
It also references industry guidance for use of nanomaterials in human and animal food and in drug products.
The FDA's two core facilities for nanotechnology are described, with their mission to provide centralised characterisation tools, researcher training and regulatory research.
International collaboration is addressed, including the US-EU CoR (Communities of Research), The EU's Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the US−India Emerging Materials and Manufacturing Sciences working group.
