Earlier this year, a number of organizations published a letter to ECHA seeking clarifications on the applicable legal framework for nano/biocidal-treated face masks to be placed on the EU market. The letter made a few broad assumptions about the safety of nano-treated products, in particular in relation to nanosilver, which are not borne out by the relevant science and could be misleading. NIA coordinated the development of a response letter to ECHA to bring additional information to the discussion, and to support a more balanced vision of the issue.
