Dear NIA Members,

Today we are opening the call for nominations for the new NIA Regulatory Committee. The establishment of committees is an outcome of the ongoing strategic review of the NIA and is aimed to offer greater member engagement. The main purpose of the Regulatory Committee is to assess and address any global regulatory issue, regulation or standard, current or proposed, that may have a bearing on nanomaterials or the interests of NIA members. The full terms of reference can be found in the attached file.

Committee meetings will take place online, and it is anticipated that there will be four meetings per year after the initial set-up phase, where meetings may be more frequent. All Corporate and Associate Members are eligible for nomination. Other member categories can request to join, but their membership will need approval from the Board to do so.

Nomination Process

Corporate and Associate members who wish to nominate one of their staff to the Committee should email Nikolina with the following details:

  • Name of nominee

  • Job Title/Role

  • Email Address

  • Country nominee based in/time zone (to allow meetings to be scheduled)

Nominations will close at 17:00 CEST on 17 May 2024. The first meeting of the NIA Regulatory Committee will be held during the first two weeks of June. During that meeting, the Committee will propose a Chair and Vic-Chair and agree the ongoing business for the Committee.

If you have any questions about the Regulatory Committee or the nomination process, then please do not hesitate to ask Sean (sean.kelly@nanotechia.org) or Blanca (blanca.suarez@nanotechia.org). This is a great chance for you to help shape the NIA’s regulatory positions and to be more engaged with responding to emerging regulatory issues. We look forward to receiving nominations from members for this exciting opportunity.
