NIA’s Interim Director General, Sean Kelly, recently attended the bi-annual nanoSAFE conference, which this year was also held in conjunction with the EU NanoSafety Cluster's Nanoweek. Organised by NIA member CEA, the nanoSAFE conference is held every two years in Grenoble, with this year’s being the 8th edition.

As well as having the benefit of hearing the latest research in nanosafety and having updates from the many projects in this area, Sean also joined as a panel member for a discussion on “Industrial perspective and applicability of the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework proposed by the EC JRC”, in which Gunther Van Kerckhove from NIA member OCSiAL also participated. Other NIA members also attended the event, including University of Birmingham, University of Leeds, Gaiker, Stat Peel, BNN, Yordas, Blue Frog and Fraunhofer.

Further details about the event, including recordings of the panel session, can be found at https://www.nanosafe.org/cea-tech/pns/nanosafe/en.
