The French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy has published an overview of the mandatory nanomaterial reporting scheme which took effect on 1 January 2013. It provides a web address for where reporting must be done, questions and answers on the scheme, and states that submissions must be completed annually by 1 May.
According to the release, the French National Agency for Food Safety, Environment and Labour (Anses) will be responsible for the management and reporting of data. It states that the scheme will enable better understanding of the state of nanomaterials on the open market and to create traceability chains.
The Ministry also states that the regulation has been developed in consultation with multi-stakeholder representatives, and that it is working with other Member States to implement similar schemes in other countries.
