The NGO Client Earth has filed a complaint with the EU Ombudsman on the late publication of the European Catalogue of Nanomaterials in Cosmetics, presented in June 2017, when the Regulation on Cosmetic Products had fixed the 11 January 2014 as the deadline for the publication of this catalogue.

The NGO considers this delay to have been ‘deliberate’ and that the European Commission has breached and frustrated information rights for consumers. Client Earth also regrets that the published catalogue ‘does not let people identify which cosmetics contain potentially harmful nanomaterials, or assess the threat they may pose to human health’.
