3rd Open meeting on Standardisation for Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials

Event Dates:
Tuesday, October 2, 2018 -
08:30 to 18:30
Event Venue:
Brussels

Nanotechnology is one of six Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) in the current European industrial policy. Standards are an essential element in the development of a sustainable and innovative nanotechnology industry. Hence an extensive standardization mandate M461 was given by the European Commission to CEN, CENELEC and ETSI for developing standards on nanotechnology-related topics.

In the frame of the M461 mandate, a third Open Meeting on (Standardisation for) Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials is organised by CEN/TC 352 "Nanotechnologies" in collaboration with CEN CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC) and the European Commission (EC). The meeting will take place on the 2nd of October 2018 in Brussels.

One the aim of the meeting is to present progress of the work within mandate M461. The main CEN Technical Committees (TC) involved (TC 352 on Nanotechnologies, TC 195 on Air filters for general air cleaning, and TC 137 on Assessment of workplace exposure to chemical and biological agents), will show and explain their outputs.

Also, in order to develop and prioritize ideas for further standardisation work, within the scope of M461 and beyond, 3 Round Tables will be organized to facilitate the exchange between practitioners, researchers and policy makers on:

1) The support of standardization to (the implementation of) regulation

2) How to match with the need of Industries?

3) How to better serve and protect the society at large

A Poster session will be organized during the lunch break to present the published standards and to facilitate a direct dialogue between participants and experts.

The steering and organising committee is still finalizing the programme (including the Round Table topics) and the venue in Brussels, but we already invite you to save the date for this one-day meeting and circulate this document to your entire network.

This conference is open to everyone who registers in advance, and participation is free of charge. You will be informed when the registration starts.
